Action for a Better Community / Acción Para el Bienestar Común

The ABC Program was created to support Berkeley’s families — especially our Spanish-speaking community — so that every parent feels connected and every child has the chance to thrive.

Through ABC, families are paired with bilingual ambassadors who help with communication, translation, and guidance at school events. We also host family gatherings during the year where parents can ask questions, meet school leaders, and celebrate our cultures together.

What We Do

  • Provide translation and support for Spanish-speaking parents.

  • Help families communicate with teachers and school staff.

  • Host family events to build community and celebrate Hispanic heritage.

  • Ensure all families feel welcome, included, and informed.

  • Partner with the school and HSA to keep parents involved in their child’s education.

Why It Matters

Nearly two-thirds of Berkeley families identify as Hispanic, and many are new to the United States. ABC helps bridge the language gap so that parents can participate fully in school life and students can succeed.

Are you bilingual and want to make a difference in our school community? Join the ABC Ambassadors Team! Ambassadors help parents by:
